Cary Downtown Farmers Market is a proud participant in the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program as Kids Summer Meals site. A continuation of the free lunch program that takes place during the school year, the summer program ensures that local children have access to healthy meals year-round.
Summer camps were recruited to participate in the program and more recently, farmers markets. We felt that our strong community spirit would support our market participating in the program and so now we are! We’ve partnered with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina to provide a free morning snack (available 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.) and a free lunch (available 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.) to local kids who need a meal.
Getting the word out is important and we can use your help. If you know families with children who may need these meals, please send them to the Market and tell them to ask for Rick!
